Collegiate 4-H Connections

Episode Number 24

Collegiate 4-H Connections

May 12, 2024

Joe sits down with Montana State University Collegiate 4-H current and past presidents to discuss their road to bringing back a collegiate 4-H program. The discussion covers some of the ways that MSU students are working hard to make their collegiate program sustainable for generations of future members. Breanna and Cade share how they’re focussing on incremental steps to support the broader 4-H program across Montana, and what efforts they’re making to connect younger members to supportive “near-peers” as positive role models.

Here’s that image that Joe was talking about, too!

What is 4‑H?

4‑H is delivered by Cooperative Extension—a community of more than 100 public universities across the nation that provides experiences where young people learn by doing. For more than 100 years, 4‑H has welcomed young people of all beliefs and backgrounds, giving kids a voice to express who they are and how they make their lives and communities better.

Through life-changing 4‑H programs, nearly six million kids and teens have taken on critical societal issues, such as addressing community health inequities, engaging in civil discourse and advocating for equity and inclusion for all.
